    A photo of your dog, your house or a sketch, or a pattern you already have. JPG, PNG, WebP, SVG or PDF.

    Set the real size

    Enter the finished width in inches or centimetres and pick copper foil or lead came. Every check runs at that size.

    Fix what won't cut

    Problem spots are marked on the pattern in plain words, each with a one-click fix: add a break line, merge a piece, close a gap.

    Download the packet

    A full-size PDF tiled on Letter or A4, a numbered key, a colour key, a glass and foil shopping list, and an SVG for Cricut or plotters.

The cut check

What glass won't do, in plain words.

Every piece is checked at your finished size, after the foil or lead takes its share of each line.

  • Sharp inside corners

    Glass can't turn a corner inward. A V-shaped notch needs a line through it so it becomes two pieces.

  • Deep inside curves

    A deep, narrow bay chips and cracks. It has to be nibbled out with grozing pliers, or split with an extra line.

  • Pieces inside pieces

    A piece completely surrounded by another would need a cut that starts and ends in the middle of the glass. That can't be done.

  • Slivers, thin necks, tiny pieces

    Judged at the final size, after the line width is taken away. Too thin and it snaps; too small and you can't hold it to grind.

  • Crowded junctions

    Too many lines meeting at one point, or junctions bunched too close, make weak spots and messy solder.

  • Open seams

    Lines that stop short of another line. Every line has to run edge to edge, or the piece can't be cut out.

The limits are sensible starting values, not a standard. Pick Beginner, Intermediate or Advanced to make them stricter or looser. They will be tuned with working glass makers. Which cuts are impossible in glass?

How do I know if my stained glass pattern can be cut?

Check it at the size you'll build it, after taking off the width of the foil or lead line. Look for sharp inside corners, inside curves deeper than they are wide, pieces trapped inside other pieces, slivers, too many lines meeting at one point, and lines that stop short. Our free checker finds all six for you.

Is a stained glass pattern the same as a stained glass photo filter?

No. A filter or AI effect makes a picture that looks like stained glass, with shapes no one could cut. A pattern is a line drawing of real pieces: every line runs edge to edge, every piece can be scored and broken, and each one is numbered so you can cut it from a sheet.

Does it work on Mac, iPad and Chromebook?

Can I print the pattern at full size or cut it on a Cricut?
